The Heart of Our Community
At Pinecone Playhouse, we believe children thrive when they're surrounded by passionate educators, caring mentors, and dedicated community professionals. From our teachers to our enrichment specialists, each member of our team brings unique knowledge, creativity, and compassion to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
Hello! My name is Kelsey Richardson, and I am the owner of Pinecone Playhouse. I bring more than 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in caregiving, childcare, and supportive settings.
Â
Over the years, I have been fortunate to build a diverse background in pediatric development through both hands-on experience and mentorship from professionals in the neurological pediatric field. As a Neuro-Developmental Therapist (NDT), my career has provided opportunities to work alongside practitioners specializing in pediatric chiropractic care, neurodevelopment, vision therapy, and other therapeutic approaches that support children's growth and development. Through these experiences and specialized trainings, I have developed a deeper understanding of how the developing brain influences learning, behavior, emotional regulation, movement, and overall well-being.
Â
This unique perspective allows me to recognize that every child develops at their own pace and in their own way. While Pinecone Playhouse is not a therapeutic program, the knowledge and experience I bring help shape an environment that supports healthy development through purposeful play, meaningful relationships, movement, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. These are practical life skills that benefit every child and every family—not just those receiving specialized services.
Â
My approach is rooted in the belief that when we understand how children develop, we can better support who they are becoming. By combining evidence-informed child development with play, movement, nature, and strong relationships, I strive to create an environment where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to grow into a confident, capable learner.
Â
In addition to my professional background, I have managed a childcare program, provided long-term nanny care for two families, and am raising two children of my own. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to creating a safe, organized, and nurturing environment where children feel known, supported, and encouraged to grow.
Â
At Pinecone Playhouse, I believe behavior is communication. Every behavior tells a story about what a child may be feeling, experiencing, or needing. Rather than simply correcting behaviors, I believe in understanding the "why" behind them. By responding with patience, curiosity, consistency, and compassion, we can help children build confidence, develop emotional regulation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and lay the foundation for lifelong success.
Â
Nature is at the heart of Pinecone Playhouse. I believe children thrive when they have opportunities to explore, move, create, and connect with the world around them. Whether we're discovering something new outdoors, building friendships through play, or learning practical life skills, every experience is an opportunity for growth.
Â
My goal is to create a warm, engaging environment where children feel safe to be themselves, inspired to explore, and encouraged to develop confidence, independence, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning. I am honored to partner with families during these important early years and look forward to helping each child build a strong foundation—not only for kindergarten, but for life.

Meet Our Enrichment Professionals
Our community is filled with talented professionals who are passionate about sharing their expertise with the next generation. Through hands-on enrichment experiences, children are introduced to art, music, science, nature, wellness, and other exciting opportunities that spark curiosity and inspire confidence.
Alan Cannaday is the founder of Happys Art and has spent more than a decade helping children and adults discover the joy of creating. An accomplished artist and educator, Alan believes every child can learn to draw and paint with confidence while expressing their own creativity and imagination. His passion is helping young artists develop foundational skills in a way that is engaging, encouraging, and fun.

One of Alan's greatest strengths is his ability to meet children where they are. Whether a child is picking up a pencil for the first time or already loves creating art, Alan fosters confidence, builds self-esteem, and celebrates each child's unique abilities. He especially enjoys those exciting "aha!" moments when children discover they're capable of creating something they never thought possible.

At Pinecone Playhouse, Alan will lead hands-on art enrichment experiences that introduce children to drawing, painting, color theory, and creative expression through age-appropriate projects. His lessons strengthen fine motor skills, encourage observation and problem-solving, and inspire children to explore their creativity in a supportive environment where every masterpiece is celebrated.

Families who discover a love for art through Alan's enrichment classes can continue building their skills at Happys Art in Dalton Gardens, where he offers progressive art classes designed to help young artists develop realistic drawing techniques while encouraging imagination, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

We're proud to partner with Alan to bring meaningful creative experiences to Pinecone Playhouse and connect our families with a talented local educator who shares our passion for helping children learn, grow, and thrive.
