The Western Heritage Arts Center is a performance-based arts and humanities project to be built on 45 acres in a newly designated Arts and Culture District south of West Yellowstone, Montana.

The Western Heritage Arts Center will powerfully preserve, present and promote the best of our American Western culture. It is important because it makes contemporary and relevant a positive blend of the best of both Native American Indian cultures and the can-do “cowboy up” culture of the European immigrants.

Our intention is to blend positive western ideals with the spiritual connectedness to the land and wildlife of the Northern Plains Indian cultures in order to model and preserve our unique American heritage and true American identity.

This rough concept sketch was created by Jeff Carter in 2005 to explain the components of the Larger Western Heritage Arts Center project.

Components Include:

-Northern Plains Indian Living History Museum

-Pioneer Artisan Workshop Living History Museum

-Archives and Collections

-Youth Arts Education Camp

-Rodeo Arena / Equestrian Center / Winter Ice Center

-Indoor / Outdoor Performing Venues

-Light Industry Workshops

-7-Plus Steam Locomotive

We are still a relatively young Nation and we believe that by taking the best of our iconic Cowboy mythology blended with the spiritual connectedness of Native American cultures, we can preserve and model our unique heritage and share that Spirit of the American West in fascinating and entertaining ways to the world-wide audience entering Yellowstone Park just blocks away.

By sifting and sorting the "software" of west and presenting it in indoor, outdoor, and equestrian arena performance venues, we will be providing experiences that visitors look for to enrich their vacations and lives.

By providing authentic environments for artians and Native Americans to immerse their families in the crafts and languages of their forbearers, Yellowstone travelers will experience living-history in engaging and immersive ways and connect with our heritage in a high-quality, well designed facility along Yellowstone's western edge.

Be a part of history and help make the vision a reality at this world-class living-history and cultural arts center. The best of who we were is still the best of who we are.
